Opening Procedures

As is the case with any major city, New York City presents many different challenges when it comes to handling security situations. I was standing near Grand Central Station when a bank asked me just one question: “How do we handle opening procedures safely here?” Their location was unique, unlike many urban and rural branches where we teach staff to circle the building in their car to observe anything unusual before entering, which was impossible here. The office building was several stories high with many different offices and businesses and four major streets surrounding it. On the opposite side of the building from the bank was a retail store that wasn’t even touching the bank's interior walls.
